“This game is not going to define the rest of our season.”Princeton vs Cornell
That’s what Cornell Head Football Coach David Archer said to the Cornell Sun after Saturday’s loss to Princeton.
And Big Red senior captain Jackson Weber echoed the feelings of his head coach.
“There are two different directions I think this team can go,” Weber told the Sun. “We can mail it in and coast through the next three games and not continue to improve and not fight and not enjoy the last three weeks we have together. Or we can do the total opposite and continue to come with a hard hat every day, work hard, get better and cherish the bond that we have and continue to fight.”
Princeton entered the game after a tough overtime loss to Harvard in a battle for first place in the game, and that loss fueled their dominating effort against the Big Red on Saturday.
“We had such a bad taste in our mouth from last week that I think we were ready to play on Monday,” Princeton receiver Isaiah Barnes said in an article on Princetontigersfootball.com. “The (Harvard) loss became just one more motivation to prove to the rest of the league that we are for real. Cornell just happened to be the first team we played. It was a complete game for everybody.”
